DIY Instructions: Spring Decoration in a Glass

And of course, what is a must for the spring look on the table? That's right, fresh spring flowers! Here you can either go for the classic, colorful spring flowers in a beautiful vase, or if you're in a spring DIY mood: How about a spring flower arrangement in a glass? With our simple DIY instructions, you can create a beautiful and natural spring decoration on your dining table:

This is what you need for the Easter glass:

  • two round glass bowls (alternatively, you can place the arrangement in a bowl or in a glass vase)
  • some potting soil
  • Spring flowering bulbs (e.g. grape hyacinths)
  • Moss (from the gardener or from the garden)
  • blown-out eggs in various sizes (tip: quail eggs have unique marbling)
  • pine cones and branches, bark, etc.

Here's how to arrange the decoration in the glass:

1. Fill the smaller glass with some moss and potting soil. Plant the spring onion in the soil and cover with some moss.

2. Place the small bowl in the middle of the larger bowl. Also line the bottom edge with some moss. Carefully place the blown-out eggs, pine cones and the rest of the decorations in the outer glass. Done!

If you want to place some more decoration on the table, a few colorful taper candles and Easter figures are perfect as additional highlights to amaze your guests!

recipe for quick lemon muffins

Now that the table is set, all you need is the perfect treat for your brunch or coffee and cake. Our lemon muffins are super quick to make, fluffy and full of fragrant citrus aroma. You can also get little helpers to help with the icing, because decorating the muffins with delicious chocolate Easter eggs is sure to be fun for your loved ones too! 😉

This is what you need for 12 muffins:

  • 250 g wheat flour
  • 150 g soft butter
  • 120 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar or vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 organic lemons (if possible with untreated peel)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice (for the glaze)
  • 100 g powdered sugar (for the icing)
  • Green food coloring (for the icing)
  • Toppings of your choice (e.g. decorative carrots, Easter eggs, Smarties etc.)

How to make Easter muffins:

1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C and line a muffin tray with paper cases.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

3. Melt the butter in a small saucepan or in the microwave. Then, in a second bowl, mix together the melted butter, eggs, milk, juice of two lemons, lemon zest (from one lemon) and vanilla extract.

4. Next, add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.

5. Now pour the batter into the prepared muffin tins, filling each tin about 2/3 full. Bake for 20-24 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove the muffins from the oven and let them cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

6. For the icing, mix the lemon juice with the icing sugar and a little green food coloring in a bowl until there are no more lumps of icing sugar. If the mixture is a little too thick or too thin, just add a little more lemon juice or icing sugar.

7. Spread the icing on the muffins using a spoon and decorate with the toppings of your choice (e.g. edible flowers, chocolate eggs, Smarties, etc.) while the icing is drying.

Happy Easter! 🐣
