It has been with us since childhood and still brings genuine joy when it is marked on the calendar with a red highlighter: girls' night. In the early days, it was celebrated in colorful pajamas and with the joy of being able to stay up later than bedtime to watch a film. During our teenage years, it was more about talking about the latest romance at school and trying out eyeliner for the first time before sneaking out to a party.
And yet it remains a special evening even in adulthood. An evening when you know you can share your worries with your best friends. When you can talk about partners, colleagues or children together without being looked at strangely. An evening when you can laugh together and forget the stress of Christmas for a moment.
And of course, what is always part of a successful girls' night? Exactly, the right food. So next time it's your turn to host and you want to really enjoy the pre-Christmas period with your best friends, we have two tasty recipes here that will make the evening together even more fun!
1. Christmas chocolate with delicious toppings
You can prepare this chocolate in advance and enjoy it together, or you can make it a fun activity and make your own Christmas chocolate together. The beautiful Christmas shapes also make a wonderful little Christmas gift for friends or colleagues.
This is what you need (for about 5-8 molds):
- 2-3 bars of chocolate of your choice (milk, dark or white)
- Decoration as desired (e.g. hazelnut brittle, biscuits, gingerbread, speculatius, Smarties, freeze-dried fruit, decorative sprinkles, nuts, etc.)
Here's how it works:
Step 1: Melt the chocolate in a water bath and then pour it into your molds (the larger your molds are, the more the decoration will stand out).
Step 2: Then decorate with your toppings as desired and let dry.
Step 3: Carefully remove from the molds and optionally pack in small bags to give as gifts.
2. The perfect Christmas drink: Hot Aperol
So you've already found the perfect snack for your next girls' night out, but all you need is a suitable Christmas drink. We've converted a recipe for the popular summer drink into a festive Christmas edition: the Christmas Aperol!
This is what you need (for about 2 portions):
2 tablespoons sugar
sugar and cinnamon (for the rim)
How to make the aperitif:
Step 1: Heat the white wine, sugar, water, cinnamon stick and the juice of an orange in a saucepan and stir. Make sure that the wine does not start to boil! Meanwhile, use the orange juice and cinnamon sugar to create a sugar rim on the glasses.
Step 2: Pour 2 cl of Aperol into each of the prepared glasses, top up with hot mulled wine and decorate with a fresh orange slice. Cheers!
