We love giving homemade gifts at Christmas. And it's even better if you can use our fabric scraps! So today we'll show you how you can easily make beautiful, festive DIY Christmas cards where you can let your creativity run wild and use your fabric scraps.
This is what you need for the cards:
- blank cards in any format (you can also easily make these yourself from your own paper or cardboard scraps)
- Sturdy paper for the "fabric scrap window" (slightly smaller than your card)
- fabric scraps in the colors of your choice
- Pens for writing (e.g. with metallic effect)
- Strong craft glue or hot glue gun
- Optional: Pearl Pen to decorate the fabric
- Optional: Washi Tape to decorate the cards
And here's how it works:
Step 1: Draw a template on paper with your desired Christmas motif (e.g. a Christmas tree or a Christmas bauble). Cut it out and use it as a template on a piece of sturdy paper.
Step 2: Cut out the painted motif to create a "window". Take a piece of your fabric scraps and then carefully glue it to the back of the paper using craft glue or hot glue.
Step 3: Now glue the paper with the fabric scrap window onto your Christmas card. It's best to choose a different color for the card so that there is a contrast. You can also optionally use a cutter knife to carve four equal-sized slits into the card and insert your paper into them (see picture).
Step 4: Now decorate the card as you like with washi tape and write your favorite lettering on it.
With the Christmas motifs and decorations you can let your creativity run wild - maybe you can come up with completely new templates?
With a nice message on the back, you can make your loved ones very happy this Christmas with this homemade Christmas card!
