What must not be missing in summer? Clearly: delicious food with good friends and long conversations late into the mild summer night over a joint barbecue! For this reason we have prepared a four-part special barbecue series for you. Every week you get a new dish for the perfect grill menu: side dish, main course, dessert and drink. Our crispy grilled bread starts things off. If you are tired of stick bread and herb baguettes, then our grilled bread is the perfect alternative for you! It's super easy to make and everyone likes it.

Grilled bread on a blue plate

This is required:

* 500g flour
* 300ml water
* 1 tbsp softened butter
* 1 cube of fresh yeast
* 1 tbsp oregano
* pinch of salt and sugar
* olive oil

Here's how:

Step 1: Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water.

Step 2: Add the flour, butter, oregano, sugar, salt and yeast water mix into a dough and knead vigorously. Cover and leave to rest for at least an hour.

Step 3: Divide the dough into about eight equal portions. Roll out each flat cake on a floured surface.

Step 4: Brush one side of the flatbread with olive oil and place that side down on the grill.

Step 5: Grill for three minutes, then flip and brush the other side with olive oil. Grill for another three minutes and then serve warm.

TIP

The ingredients are simple and the recipe can be varied and spiced up in just a few simple steps. If you're not a fan of oregano, try dried basil, dried tomatoes, or olives. It is best served with a salad, spreads and dips or simply enjoy it with herb butter!
