What could be nicer in the cold winter than snuggling up on the couch with a delicious hot drink while reading your favorite book or watching your favorite series on TV? As part of our Creative Christmas series, we have three simple but delicious recipe ideas for winter Christmas hot drinks for you this Sunday in Advent! From a fruity apple punch to full-bodied speculoos chocolate, there is guaranteed to be something for every taste.
1. Fruity apple and cinnamon punch
Ingredients (for 3 servings):
- 1l naturally cloudy apple juice
- 4 oranges
- 3 cinnamon sticks or 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp cloves
- 3 pieces of star anise
Here's how:
Slice an orange and place it in the bottom of a saucepan. Add the apple juice, the juice from the remaining three oranges and all the spices to the saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil. Allow the punch to simmer over medium heat for 15 minutes. Remove the star anise, cinnamon sticks, and orange slices from the saucepan and pass the punch through a sieve to extract the cloves. Serve the punch in a glass and decorate with a slice of orange.
PSST: If you want to drink the punch with a shot, you can add 2cl of brown rum per glass.
2. Full-bodied white chocolate with speculoos cream
Ingredients (for 2 servings):
- 600ml milk
- 100g white chocolate
- Spekulatius Spice
- whipped cream
- speculaas
Here's how:
Chop the chocolate coarsely with a knife. Heat the milk in a saucepan, add the chocolate and stir occasionally until it has liquified and combined with the milk. In a bowl, whip the cream until stiff and add speculoos spice to taste. Mix well. Pour the hot chocolate into a cup, top with speculoos cream and garnish with a few pieces of speculoos.
3. Winter Dalgona Coffee
Ingredients (for 1 serving):
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 5 tbsp whipped cream
- 1 cup of coffee or espresso
Here's how:
Put the cocoa powder, sugar and whipping cream in a bowl and use a hand mixer to beat the ingredients until fluffy. In the meantime, prepare a cup of coffee or espresso. Put the chocolate foam on top of the coffee as a topping. Then serve the Winter Dalgona Coffee warm and preferably drink it right away, before the froth falls.
TIP: If you want, you can decorate the drink with small marshmallows or grated chocolate.
